Georgia Space Grant Consortium

North Georgia Space Grant Fellowship

Program Type: Internship/Fellowship/Scholarship

The North Georgia Space Grant Fellowship program supports and promotes academic excellence in physics, astronomy and related fields. While academic excellence in the sciences is the primary criteria for selecting recipients, special consideration is given to students that are pursuing an interest in the space sciences. This program is also used to draw attention to the NASA Space Grant program and to the other programs that it supports both at UNG and elsewhere.

The awarded monies provide funding for eight awards, which include two awards for each academic level (freshman, sophomore, junior, and senior). The financial amounts increase at each level starting with $250.00 for freshmen, $500.00 for sophomores, $750.00 for juniors, and $1000.00 for seniors. These awards are selected by a committee made of UNG faculty and are presented at the final departmental/Society of Physics Students event each year. The awards are then publicized around the university and in the local press when possible.
