Michigan Space Grant Consortium
Graduate Fellowship Program

The MSGC Graduate Fellowship Program offers research and public service fellowships to students in aerospace engineering, space science, mathematics, and other science and engineering fields as well as to students working on educational research topics in mathematics, science, or technology. Preference is given to projects in aerospace engineering, space science, Earth system science, and directly related educational efforts. The objective of this program is to enable students, faculty, and research scientists to engage in a research topic that exposes students to cutting edge research efforts that yield new science with the students as meaningful co-authors of peer-reviewed journal articles. We believe that by giving students the opportunities to be a part of important research projects allows gives them the excitement necessary to motivate them to do well academically and pursue careers in these fields. The MSGC Fellowship Program also provides support to students selected for internships at NASA Centers, in industry, and at the University of Michigan.
Notes regarding timeframe of the project and cost-sharing: MSGC fellowships span portions of two NASA FY report periods. This set of fellowships are being reported this FY because it is infeasible to split apart the reporting of NIFS and the majority of the effort in the undergraduate fellowships and internships are done during the summer, in this case Summer 2018. The cost-sharing noted in the cost section of this activity are based on commitments from affiliates.
