The Space Sciences Laboratory (SSL) at the University of California, Berkeley (UC Berkeley) is providing mentorship and training to four highly motivated undergraduate students who are leaders of the Cal Space Technologies And Rocketry (aka CalSTAR) student club. The club was formed in 2015 in order to pursue interests in rocketry and desires to learn and implement aerospace engineering practices. The club has since increased in membership to over 90 active members. The four student leaders meet every other week with SSL engineers and scientists, then lead the remaining CalSTAR team in high-powered rocketry design and competitions. SSL also assists CalSTAR with their goal of sharing their work with the public through outreach.
