The Arizona/NASA Statewide Mentored Undergraduate Research Scholarship Program Symposium is the grand finale of the undergraduates yearlong mentored Scholarships, showcasing undergraduate research. The well-publicized event, run as Friday evening celebratory banquet with an invited (NASA-focused) keynote speaker, and a Saturday professional scientific meeting, promotes networking and celebrates student and researcher dedication, accomplishments, and hard work.

The event kicks-off with a Friday evening celebratory banquet for Scholars and their faculty/research mentors from across the state, along with family, friends, invited guests and dignitaries. The banquet features a keynote speaker, speaking on a topic of current NASA focus. It also features a ceremony honoring graduating seniors. The next day, Saturday, features a day-long symposium, organized and run as a professional scientific meeting. AZ/NASA Space Grant Undergraduate Mentored Scholars and significant Research and Higher Education program student awardees from University of Arizona (UA), Arizona State University (ASU), Northern Arizona University (NAU), Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (ERAU), Glendale Community College (GCC) and Pima Community College (PCC), Estrella Mountain Community College, Central Arizona College, Phoenix College and Dine College contribute to a formal symposium abstract book, and make oral presentations on the results of their year-long research projects. Organized into parallel topical sessions (Planetary Science, Exploration Systems Engineering: Biological, Materials, Optical and Electrical, Earth and Environmental Science/Engineering, ERAU EagleSat, Astronomy and Space Physics, Education and Public Outreach, ASCEND (statewide balloon sat program), Aeronautics, Aerospace Technology, Math, Physics and Chemistry), presentation topics reflected work in mentored research and team engineering projects relevant to all NASA Mission Directorates.
