Higher Education Programs

A. Hardware and hands-on experiences: High Altitude Balloon Project – Mississippi State University (MSU) Aerospace Dept. utilizes MSSGC funds for an on-going high altitude balloon project as a research platform.
USLI Rocket Project – Mississippi State University Aerospace Dept. funds a student team to design, build, launch and analyze rockets for the University Student Launch Initiative. The University of Mississippi provides a hands-on experience in which students participate in a large scales aerospace project to launch a student-designed, student-built rocket to deploy a payload at an altitude of 10,000 feet.
B. Mentoring Programs Affiliate Programs – MS Valley State University, Jones County Junior College, Coahoma Community College, Hinds Community College, Itawamba Community College, Meridian Community College, Mississippi Delta Community College, Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College, MS University for Women, Northeast Community College, University of Southern MS and Pearl River Community College fund higher education mentoring programs for STEM majors, mostly in the laboratory setting. Alcorn State University and Coahoma Community College both offered tutoring programs which successfully served STEM students on their campuses.
