Students for the Exploration and Development of Space (SEDS) is an independent, student-based organization that promotes the exploration and development of space. It is an international student organization comprised of individuals interested in all things space, with chapters at high schools, colleges, and universities throughout the country. SEDS pursues this mission by educating people about the benefits of space through STEM related outreach, supporting a network of interested students, providing an opportunity for members to develop their leadership skills, and inspiring people through involvement in space-related projects that focus on developing technical engineering skills and promoting STEM through outreach within the local community. At the University of Arizona SEDS, is an interdisciplinary club of graduate and undergraduate students. Membership fluctuates yearly. Space Grant is a sponsor of UA SEDS, and provides financial support for space-related research projects, and other educational activities undertaken by the club. The AZ Space Grant Director and Manager serve as club advisors, and work closely with officers and members to structure club research, education and outreach activities to maximize educational and workforce development value. Club members frequently participate in various UA Space Grant programs and activities, and each year UA SEDS officers travel to Space Vision, the organizations national meeting, where they maintain leadership roles in the National organization.
