EPSS

Program Type: Higher Education

Education Programs Support Services (EPSS), led by PI Mark Fischer, participates in three major program areas of the Pennsylvania Space Grant Consortium (PSGC). Mr. Fischer provides guidance and oversight for the PSGC during participant application, selection and tracking processes. EPSS developed an on‐line application system for fellowships, scholarships, internships, and workshops. The system enables the submission of applications, transcripts, resumes, letters of reference and other information on‐line and delivers single PDF files for each applicant. The system helps to increase the number of applications by sending regular reminders to applicants, references, campus representatives and program staff. To facilitate the selection process, EPSS has developed an on‐line tool to allow reviewers to evaluate each application based upon a pre‐determined rubric. EPSS also has developed an on‐line system that facilitates the longitudinal tracking of current and former program participants. This web‐based system allows self‐reporting of post-award education history, employment history, anecdotal, and other information by recipients. The EPSS is responsible for the PSGC participant reporting system, adapting tools to increase the likelihood that participants will respond to the surveys, utilizing tools to reconnect to participants that change their email addresses, processing and reporting collected data, and the compilation or collected data into reports that are specified by the PSGC.
