The NASA Explorer Tutoring Program is a partnership between the Sasakwa Public Schools, Oklahoma’s first NASA Explorer School, and the mathematics department at ECU. The partnership allows mathematics students from ECU the real-world experience of being in a teaching and mentoring environment, as well as establishing future contacts and resources and a better chance for employment within their field. The middle school and high school students have a renewed focus and purpose related to academic progress since NASA, ECU, and Sasakwa will be supporting their future and encouraging academic success. The students are encouraged to do well in school, think about post-secondary education degrees, and dream about the future beyond academia.
