New Jersey Space Grant Consortium
K-12 Bridge Programs

This higher education program involves attracting K-12 students to STEM by providing activities at New Jersey universities under the supervision of college faculty and researchers from industry and/or scientific organizations. The K-12 students that are competitively selected spend their summer in the labs and offices of researchers. This program aligns with NJSGC Objective 2.7 and is an Outcome 2 program.
In FY 2017, two activities were supported, the Partners in Science Program at Liberty Science Center and the TARGET (The Academy at Rutgers for Girls in Engineering and Technology) program at Rutgers University.
Partners in Science is for high school students, who are paired with mentors in industry and academia, conducting research under the supervision of their mentors. TARGET is for middle school or high school girls who receive a week at the Rutgers campus working on engineering projects.
