Missouri Space Grant Consortium
Independent Student Research at MS&T
Independent faculty-mentored projects provide opportunities for post-secondary students to participate in authentic hands-on NASA-related research training experiences. These projects involve direct-funded on-campus Graduate Fellowships, Graduate Research Assistantships, and Undergraduate Internships. Students perform aerospace engineering and space-related scientific research in topics of interest to NASA under the supervision of Missouri S&T faculty members.
The selection process begins with the announcement of NASA-supported student research opportunities being distributed to all departments on campus. The application package includes:
1. A one-page cover letter written by the student expressing interest in participating in one of the student research programs and pursuing a career in a field of interest to NASA.
2. Application Form
3. Resume
4. Current Transcript of Academic Record.
5. Completed Project Description Form
6. A letter of recommendation and support from the students faculty research advisor.
Students provide technical research reports and present the results of their work (or work in progress) at the NASA-Missouri Space Grant Consortium Annual Spring Meeting.
